The Open Doors Re-Engagement Program through Battle Ground Public Schools provides educational services to older youth, ages 16-21, who have dropped out of school or are not expected to graduate from high school by the age of 21.

Diploma Pathway

The Diploma Pathway offers students:

  • The option to pursue a District Diploma (explore waivers and alternative pathways)

  • A way to earn 0.5 credits per course using a digital curriculum

  • Opportunities to satisfy district-specific graduation requirements

  • Fulfillment of Graduation Pathway requirements

  • Guidance for completing HS and Beyond Plan Requirements

GED Pathway

The GED Pathway offers students:

  • The option to focus on one subject at a time

  • Individualized curriculum

  • Practice tests

  • Official GED tests at no cost

  • Opportunities to test out of classes

  • Career and College assistance during and after GED studies

Who is eligible for Battle Ground Public Schools Open Doors?

  • Students who are credit deficient and are motivated to earn a GED

  • Students who are at least 16 (but younger than 21 by Sept. 1 of the current school year)

  • Students who live within Battle Ground Public Schools’ boundaries

  • Flexible scheduling and learning plans

  • Personalized support from knowledgeable staff

  • Effective GED preparation using the Aztec learning platform

  • Personalized blend of in-person and independent work

  • Flexible scheduling for GED exams at Clark College or from home, provided students qualify

  • Access to help from the Family and Community Resource Center

  • Access to Battle Ground Public Schools Cascadia Tech Academy and Running Start

  • Extra support at the SVHS Homework Cafe tutoring center

  • Option to earn credit on transcript after earning qualifying scores on GED subject tests

Student Expectations

Battle Ground Public Schools Open Doors students are expected to:

  • Attend weekly in-person sessions for at least one hour

  • Work independently for 12 hours per week

  • Demonstrate progress quarterly
