FIRST we will be our BEST… then we will be FIRST
There are winners and then in a greater sense there are winners. That greater sense of winning is the one that Prairie Athletics is devoted to. The essential difference between the two degrees of winning is the development of character. We truly believe that victory cannot be achieved unless there is a mesh of winning character and winning athletic skills. That mesh will produce clutch performances on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
In order to produce a person that is both a winner as an individual and as an athlete we believe that our players must be goal-oriented (prioritize academic and athletic endeavors). Success in reaching these goals will produce, as a byproduct, the winning character we are seeking in our athletes. As coaches we will therefore be concerned with the whole person – character for life!
Another important aspect of Prairie Athletics is that we will not take shortcuts to be successful. We believe in hard work. This, as much as anything else, is responsible for our success. Hard work is part of our game and is essential to winning.
The last part of our philosophy of winning, that we deem invaluable, is a loving enthusiasm for the sport(s) our athletes choose to participate in. This love for the game is expressed in an enthusiasm for giving yourself to the game, your teammates, and your school. In the long run, the person who receives the most is the student-athlete.
Prairie Athletics is devoted to winning. While our programs have a rich history of excellence, winning is best exemplified NOT by scores or records but by the character and attitude of every player in our programs.
